A few weeks ago, our family went out to visit one of our grandmothers. On the way back, we saw the most hilarious sight. There was a man wearing enormous sunglasses and was leaning on the payphone making a call. It was not the sunglasses that was funny, it was the fact that he was SINGING IN THE TELEPHONE! He was singing,
"BABY!
DO YOU REMEMBER!?
I FORGOT TO REMEMBER. OH!
I FORGOT TO REMEMBER!"
Our whole family was making a great effort not to laugh. I managed to smother some giggles, but that meant that I still laughed a bit. It was a good thing that the man did not see us. It was a real funny experience and our family had some great big laughs over it.

This blog is the brainchild of a Singaporean mother-daughter pair, who, in the midst of all their stressful activities, decided to find a common platform to voice out their various opinions, views and experiences of life. Transformed into a family blog, it serves the same purpose, but now in a more diverse manner.

Rachel: An Eggcellent Question
The morning scene in our house on Saturday will see most of us bustling about in the kitchen preparing breakfast. Given the limited space we have, it is normal to take turns preparing the different items on our breakfast menu. The one consistent necessity that all of us would include in our individual breakfast menu?: Eggs
Whether poached, soft-boiled, fried, boiled or scrambled, we'd either use a steel cup, or a frying pan to achieve the desired result. This same frying pan can be used to boil noodles as well. Hence should two people want to use it for different purposes, it is only natural that they take turns.
This morning saw a similar situation, where I was waiting for my father to finish frying his eggs in the frying pan. I had already started to boil my eggs in the steel cup and needed the frying pan to cook noodles. When he was done, I happily started taking over and was going through the motions when he suddenly looked over my shoulder and proceeded to deliver the funniest line of the morning in the most sincerely worried, and serious tone.
He said, "What are you doing? Are you going to fry your boiled eggs?"

Ruth: A Glorious Day
Today was a glorious day.
At 6.30, I woke up and went for a walk with Papa. We went to the park. On the way there, we saw a big, black, dog across the street. At first, I thought I saw something moving there. I thought it was a cat, but turns out, it was a dog! Papa told me so.
You see, I am shortsighted, so I cannot see things across the street (without my glasses) of course.
Anyway, when we arrived at the park, we saw a guy with an inflatable canoe! It was pretty cool. Then, we walked around a bit and saw some friends of Papa's. We talked for quite a bit. Then, after hearing and seeing a white rooster go, "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" twice, we went home.
We had the most wonderful breakfast. Delicious crispy waffles made by Papa! I cut my waffle in half. On one half, I spread some butter and jam. It was nice and sweet. On the other, I spread some savoury herb cream cheese. YUM! It was delicious, as you can see from the, "YUM!".
In the afternoon, Papa took us to the arcade in Tampines Century Square. It was AWFULLY LOUD! But, it was great fun. We played a shooting game and a racing car game. My car kept crashing into just about everything! Still, I was pretty good at it! Then, after 1 hour of games and loud blaring music, sorry no, noise, we came home with Mommy. We had pasta for dinner and then I had some ice cream.
Now I have a pretty sore finger and it wants to sleep. Well, good night!

Rachel: Unfulfilled cravings?
I turned to my brother and said:
"Reuben, I need something light, sweet, cold, numerous, non-filling, non-fattening, and... basically something within these criteria."
"How about Milo?"
"But that's fattening..."
"Oh."
He looked at me and gave up.

Kim: Family Prayer Corner
Last night our family started a prayer wall. After some discussion everyone unanimously agreed that the wall next to my bed would be the most ideal. It is unoccupied and it is at a private corner away from public eyes.
All of us will write the prayer items on our very own Post-It sticky notes and paste them on the prayer wall.
And there is no coincidence that we saw 3M whiteboard film in the bookstore in the early afternoon and now we know that it can be used for our prayer wall.
So it will be Post-it sticky notes on a Post-it whiteboard film.
Our first family prayer meeting will start the very next Sunday at 8pm. Each of us will pick a few prayer items and pray over them and all of us pray at the same time in my bed.
A family that stays together ought to pray together often. It is easier than to find our individual support somewhere else.
